Outdoor Ice Safety Reminder

Winter is a magical time, and skating is a beloved pastime in our community. However, it’s important to remember that not all ice is safe ice. Skating, sledding, and walking on natural bodies of water, like stormwater ponds and the river, can be extremely dangerous due to unpredictable ice thickness and unseen hazards. Even when the surface looks solid, conditions underneath can vary dramatically, leading to serious risks.
